Seline's Dressmaking: Pattern to Finished Dress

Learn to make a dress from the very beginning. Over 8 sessions, you will take your own measurements, draft a pattern by hand, fit a test bodice in muslin, and sew a finished dress with an invisible zipper and a clean machine stitched hem.  Seline brings over 10 years of hands-on experience in dressmaking, alterations and pattern making

Fabric: 3 yards of medium weight cotton. For a first dress she recommends a solid color or small all-over print. Plaids, stripes, and large prints requite matching at the seams and stretch fabrics behave differently. You will also need 2 yards of muslin for a test bodice which we will fit before cutting your good fabric. 

What to bring and when: for the early sessions you will only need paper, drafting tools and ruler - please DO NOT bring your sewing machine to the first class.  I will tell you in advance which session to bring your machine, invisible zipper foot, pins and seam ripper.  Sewing practice will continue at home between sessions, and we will review your finished dress in the final class.
