Longarm Rental - Feb
Long Arm Rental Agreement Paperwork
We rent the Amara 24 longarm machine on a twelve foot frame by the day. Each day starts with one-on-one instruction to make sure you know how to use the machine and load your quilt. At the end of the day, your work is to be removed from the longarm machine.
We provide the longarm machine, a new needle, bobbins, and thread for your quilting. We stock many colors of Aurifil cotton thread and Glide polyester thread and you may choose from our open stock for your quilting. Part of the provided instruction covers thread/bobbin tension.
Your safety is important to us. When renting the longarm, only the renter and AIS staff are permitted in the longarm studio. No children. No pets. No guests. Long hair must be tied back to keep it away from the machine. Long sleeves should be rolled out of the way. Loose or dangly jewelry must be removed. We recommend comfortable shoes and clothes as moving the longarm machine requires you to be on your feet and using your arms to create the stitching designs. Also, no food is permitted in the studio.
We recommend making use of practice quilts. Free motion quilting is a learned skill. The more you practice, the better you will be at choosing and executing a pleasing design. Donation quilts, panels, throw quilts, etc. are all great ways to practice. Depending on the complexity of your design, it is feasible to quilt a practice piece and a twin sized quilt in a day.
An AIS staff member will contact you prior to your rental day to discuss your plans for the day. If you have not heard from us by the day before your rental, please call the shop at 317-776-4227 and ask for Jessica.
Important notes:
- AIS is not liable for any claims made in conjunction with the expected end result of the finished quilted product.
- Renter operates the machine and studio equipment at his/her own risk. Renter will not hold AIS responsible for any injury caused to their person or damage to their quilts.
- Renter agrees to pay for repair/replacement of any damage to the machine, equipment, or studio directly caused by the renter.
- No children, guests, or pets are permitted in the longarm studio with the renter.
- Tie back long hair and remove loose or dangly objects (scarves, jewelry, etc).
- Keep the studio clean. No food is permitted in the studio.

You will usually find Jessica working in the yarn and clearance departments or helping customers in the sewing machine department. Jessica admits that learning new things is so fun. She made a gift bag that uses zippers as handles. In her words “I was sure it would be awful – but was tickled that is really worked!” Jessica is a fiber artist, dyeing her own fabric and yarn, and is also an avid gardener.
