Capi's Sparkle Society Stitch Series - Quilting

Sarah Maxwell, creator of Designs by Sarah J has created this skill building program for all quilters.  Join our shop manager, Capi Saxton as each month in our JOY classroom she will work with students to create a new quilting project.  These fun projects are perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to quilt or perhaps hone their quilting skills.

Some topics covered will include accurate cutting, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, flying geese, partial seams, color theory and more!

Basic sewing supplies will be needed such as a seam ripper, thread and scissors.  Our stocked classroom has cutting mats, irons, rotary cutters and rulers. Instructor: Capi Saxton
Instructor Bio: Capi is the Chief Fiber Officer at Always In Stitches. You may not see her much in the front of the shop, but she is usually working somewhere in the background. She oversees all operations of the shop and when time permits, teaches classes and makes samples. Her quilting career started in 2007, when her best friend Lyneen decided to open the shop. Their plan was to just hang out in the shop occasionally. Little did they know that “occasional” would not apply to what the shop has become. It's been a wonderful adventure for them both and they are still best friends. Making bags and challenging quilts are Capi’s favorite. She also loves making quilts for her family and friends. She says, “seeing their joy in receiving something handmade makes me smile.” Her most memorable project is the 5 quilts she made for her dad and his brothers using the same pattern with different fabrics they each selected to make them unique. In her spare time, she loves traveling, gardening, sewing, and reading. Capi enjoys teaching and believes everyone is a beginner at some time. She encourages her students to allow themselves to make mistakes and allow others the same grace. “This is a fun industry to work, play and share with others. I’m blessed to be a small part.”
