Jessica's Needle Felting Basics - Hanging Ornament Sept

Needle felting is a method of making felt with dry wool and a special barbed needle. Learn basic techniques as we use a cookie cutter, wool, and the barbed needles to make a hanging ornament. While we work, we will discuss proper felting techniques, wool preparation and blending and different felting tools available. Felting requires repetitive arm movements and a gripping a slender needle. No experience needed.

Instructor: Jessica Madsen
Instructor Bio: Jessica loves seeing the creativity of the staff and customers. Her love of the beautiful colors and fabrics in the shop makes her a great addition to the staff. You will usually find Jessica working in the yarn and clearance departments or helping customers in the sewing machine department. Jessica admits that learning new things is so fun. She made a gift bag that uses zippers as handles. In her words “I was sure it would be awful – but was tickled that is really worked!” Jessica is a fiber artist, dyeing her own fabric and yarn, and is also an avid gardener. She is always looking for new plants, especially dye plants, to add to her garden. Jessica’s knowledge of color and fiber has made her a great addition to the Always In Stitches family.
Wool for the ornament is included. Students will use a variety of work surfaces during the class, that belong to the instructor.
