Capi's Thread, Needle, Tension Workshop - February

Have you ever felt like your head was about to explode because your machine is not stitching correctly?!!  This class is designed to teach you all the tips and tricks to getting that perfect stitch in all types of fabric and materials. Even the most basic machine is capable, you just need to know how to set it up.

Bring your personal machine to this class along with needles and the thread you usually use when stitching. If you have a specific material you want to work with, bring it along too and we can go over how to best set up the machine to make it sing!

In this class we will do the one thing all our Home Ec teachers told us not to do: ADJUST THE TENSION!  Yes, you CAN and Capi will show you how. We will use different sized needles, assorted threads and turn that tension dial. But, don't be afraid, everyone will have happy stitches by the time class ends AND you will be able to reproduce these results when you get home.

This class has limited space and always fills very quickly. Sign up today!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must be familiar with your sewing machine.
Materials Included: Bring your own sewing machine - no materials needed
Instructor: Capi Saxton
Instructor Bio: Capi is the Chief Fiber Officer at Always In Stitches. You may not see her much in the front of the shop, but she is usually working somewhere in the background. She oversees all operations and when time permits, teaches classes and makes samples. Her quilting career started in 2007, when her best friend Lyneen decided to open the shop. Their plan was to just hang out in the shop occasionally. Little did they know that occasional would not apply to this situation. What a wonderful adventure it has been to join the quilting world! Making bags and challenging quilts are Capi's favorite. She also loves making quilts for her family and friends. She says, "seeing their joy in receiving something handmade makes my heart smile." Her most memorable project is the 5 quilts she made for her dad and his brothers using the same pattern with different fabrics they each selected to make them unique. In her spare time, she loves traveling, gardening, sewing, and reading. Capi enjoys teaching classes. She understands everyone is a beginner at some time and everyone should be handled with patience. She encourages her students to allow themselves to make mistakes and allow others the same grace. "This is such a fun industry to be a small part of these past few years. I LOVE my work, it has become my hobby!"
