Instructor Bio: Tammy is an Indiana gal with a Purdue Industrial management/engineering degree with MBA from Ball State. She worked in manufacturing until she had children and ended up a single mom. Tammy started crafting, selling dolls, Longaberger basket bands and bows. In 1992 she purchased a quilt shop in Pendleton, Indiana and didn't even know how to quilt. Tammy owned Needle in the Haystack for 11 years, had up to 13 employees at a time and taught classes and did shows. As her kids grew up and both were heading to college, she decided to go back to manufacturing to make more money. Because, well, owning a quilt shop is not the best way to make money, but she missed her shop and the people so much. In 2011 her first grandchild, Charlotte, was born in Dallas and she traveled to Texas seven times her first year. Thankfully, out of the blue, her old Moda sales rep called and wanted to know if she wanted a job at Moda Fabrics, in Dallas. So within three weeks from his call, she moved from her Indiana home to Texas to work for one of the premier fabric companies in our quilting industry. Tammy hasn't looked back since. She started out in customer service and has been working in marketing for 8 years now. On occasion she makes return trips to Indiana to visit friends and family. We are excited to have her in our shop and look forward to her sharing her insights in to the quilting world with our customers.
