From Sheep to Skein
Trunk Show by Janet Vawter
Janet Vawter brings a special collection of wool and yarn to Always In Stitches in her trunk show, From Sheep to Skein.
Her display shows the various stages wool goes through before it becomes yarn and offers some ideas beyond knitting for using it. All of the items in the display are from wool sheared and spun from her own sheep.
For nearly 60 years, knitting and weaving have given her great joy and relaxation. Her work hardly appears to be the result of therapy, yet Janet has learned to appreciate how knitting keeps the pains of arthritis at bay.
“My aunt taught me to knit,” she remembers. “Like all knitters, she was always knitting so it was just natural for her to teach me.”
Now Janet teaches for Always In Stitches. She’s here every Monday morning for Open Knit and every Tuesday and Thursday evening for Open Stitch
Janet’s hand-spun yarn will be available for sale during Roving Indiana: Explore the Yarn Trail, a yarn crawl featuring 15 shops in 11 cities, Feb. 27-March 15.
